I am a worried Zionist. Zionism was the movement to bring Jews back to their ancestral homeland. I am worried because lately I hear people saying that Israel is illegitimate. They don’t know what they are taking about. People are too afraid to speak up and say no – that is wrong. Why do you say it’s a 74-year-old failed white supremist colonial project? Jew are indigenous to the land of Israel.
Jews were not considered white when I was growing up in Edmonton in the 60s. Furthermore, more than half the Jews who came to Israel in the last century are brown and came/fled from Arab lands, others were survivors of Nazi Germany’s holocaust, others fled Europe’s pogroms, and others have been there since the Roman expulsion in 70 CE (at the time the place was called Judaea). Jews are indigenous to Judaea/Palestine – they came home. These people are not colonizers. Stop lying. And with all this there is room for a Palestinian state to exist beside the Jewish one.
