My work has always been and still is rooted in a deep love and preoccupation with colour.

For the past few years I’ve been using textiles in my painting practice. I am familiar with my materials from my previous career as a textile designer though now I use them in different ways. Fabric and pattern become blocks of colour and texture in my work. I love the expressive qualities embedded in these materials; hanging and draping textiles are reminiscent of the human body, patterns are loaded with cultural information about history, gender, race, religion and politics. I work intuitively and collage together my own painted fabrics with textile remnants from varied sources to make new connections and discoveries.

I live and work in two places, Toronto and Tel Aviv, and also spend time in Kailua, Hawaii. Textiles are easy to travel with and keep me connected with the place I just left.
